POSITION SUMMARY:The University of South Florida College of Nursing is seeking an outstanding nurse scientist for the position of Lewis and Leona Hughes Chair in Nursing Science. The Chair will lead and expand the development of cancer research in the College of Nursing. The Chair has endowment support and a generous start-up package and will have the opportunity for close collaboration with the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as well as other oncology centers in the area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:The endowed chair faculty will maintain a high level of external grant-supported research, disseminate research findings, and promote the translation of research findings into practice working closely with practice colleagues at Sarasota Memorial Hospital mentoring clinical scientists. As Associate Director of Population Sciences at the Cancer Institute at Tampa General Hospital, the incumbent will develop and maintain oncology clinical research, and interface with other cancer programs.
The incumbent will mentor faculty, clinician scientists, and students, participate in interdisciplinary grant applications for centers and training programs, and maintain individual extramural funding.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:MINIMUM:Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a master's in nursing with an earned doctorate in another relevant field with credentials consistent with the granting of tenure at the rank of professor.
Must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
Expected to have a record of research relevant to cancer and/or related fields, history of federal funding, demonstrated leadership with building and managing research enterprises, commitment to excellence in teaching, and a vision that will position the College and the Cancer Institute prominently at the national stage.
PREFERRED:Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
Earned doctorate in nursing.
Experience collaborating/with a national cancer center.
Experience with T32 training programs.
