ALPHA OMEGA THRASHER BASWELL, 87, of Hensley, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010. She was born May 6, 1923, in Steprock, Ark., to the late John Thrasher and Bertha Osburn Thrasher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Baswell; son, Don Baswell; daughter, Dyka Lynn; and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by sons, Dale Baswell of Hensley, Dennis Baswell of Cabot, Billy Baswell of Hot Springs; brother, Henry Thrasher of Hensley; sisters, Annie Mc-Cracken of Searcy, Dorothy Clifton of Benton; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and friends.

Family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to service. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Oak Bower Church of Christ in Bismarck, Ark. DEWEY EDWIN BROADWAY, 53, of Little Rock died Tuesday, Dec.21, 2010, in Little Rock. He was born in Benton to Charles Dewey and Bertha Davis Broadway. He was a member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his father, he is survived by his wife, Leann Dunham Broadway, son, Chad Anthony Broadway, and daughter, Whitney Marie Broadway, all of the home; mother, Bertha Broadway; brothers, Terry Broadway (Terri), Keith Broadway (Michelle), Joe Don Broadway (Cindy) and Senator Shane Broadway (Debbie); and sister, Karen Broadway, all of Saline County; mother-in-law, Rose Marie Dunham of Little Rock; sisters-in-law, April Lane (John) of Little Rockand Nancy Taylor (Rusty) of Martin, Tenn.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Dewey was a Master Plumber, having worked in commercial plumbing before his current position as State Plumbing Inspector for the Arkansas Department of Health. He taught plumbing apprentice classes at Pulaski County Master Plumbers Association and Arkansas Construction Education Foundation. He loved his family and being involved in their lives. Dewey was also a master storyteller and, if interrupted, could pick up the story again at any time. He loved baseball and served as coach for the Sardis Baseball Association for many years and as an assistant coach for Hall High School while his son played ball there. Dewey was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 at Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Randy Hyde and Bro. Phillip Miller, followed by interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be this evening, Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at the church.

ELOISE KUMLER JOHNSON, age92, of Little Rock passed away Dec. 20th, 2010. She was born in Bellflower, Ill., to the late Charlie Gay Kumler and Susie May Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Leslie H. Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by one sister, Gladys Beatty; and sons Jerry (Martha) and Terry (Dorothy); seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Johnson served in various volunteer capacities while an Air Force wife and as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her favorite roles, however, were as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation for family and friends will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23rd, prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 600 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. Interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.

CAROLYN VIRGINIA SPEER, age76, of Little Rock was called home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. She was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Buckville, Ark., to the late Roy J. and Ola E. Pool.

Mrs. Speerwas a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Mabelvale and the Order of Eastern Star (Adoniram #604 and Esther #217). She retired from Firemen’s Fund Insurance Company where she was a Commercial Line Underwriter. Mrs. Speer was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Vera Hollowoa, Lucille DuBose, Lena Goad, Doris Burks and Kitty Jenkins.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dorman Preston Speer of Little Rock; daughter, Brenda Speer McCullough and husband Bill of Benton; son, Douglas Speer and wife Melinda of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Paul McCullough, Pam Clayborn and Shelly Mann; and three great-grandchildren, Austin McCullough, Shelby Mann and Lindsey Mann.

ALEXANDER - Bertha J. “Midge” Hester, 79 of Alexander went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2010, after a long and hard battle with Alzheimers. Midge was born on October 26, 1931, to the late, Daniel and Dora Jackson in England, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Gene Hester; three brothers and three sisters.

Midge is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Olin “Fritz” Hester; one son, Roger Hester; one daughter, Elizabeth Hester Townsley; five grandchildren, Dana Archer Moore, Steven Setta, Kristin Hester and Courtney Hester; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Elliot Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews and lifelong family friends.

A celebration of Midge’s life will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home at 3 p.m. with burial to follow at Collegeville Cemetery. BRYANT - William “Bill” George Krstolic, 83, of Bryant, passed away December 22, 2010, in Bryant. He was born July 21, 1927, in Kansas City, Kan., to the late Andrew and Ana (Rahija) Krstolic.

Mr. Krstolic was retired from Congra Foods as a meat supervisor. He, his wife and son lived in Olathe, Kan., for 30 plus years. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, John Krstolic and wife Lihua of Bryant; one granddaughter, Sarah Krstolic of Paola, Kan.; one sister, Ann E. Roper of Sugar Creek, Mo.; dear friend, Linda Kevorkian, of Bryant and many other friends.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010, 11 a.m., at Chapel Hill-Butler Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kan., at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time.

CONWAY - Mary Ellen Compton Gentry, 75, of Conway, passedaway Tuesday, December 21, 2010. She was born February 12, 1935, in Naylor, Ark., to the late Elmer G. and Effie Melissa Kelly Compton. She was preceded in death by her husband, BillyGentry; two brothers, Daniel Forrest and Denzil Lloyd Compton; three sisters, Violet Taylor, Lucille Jackson and Inez Rankin.

She was a cosmetologist in Conway for 43 years, eight of which she spent as an instructor of cosmetology. She was of the Baptist faith.

Mary is survived by one son, Ronnie Hubbard and wife Cindy, of Benton; two daughters, Vickie Laughlin, of Dardanelle and Kathy Milam, of Conway and their brother Phillip Hubbard and wife Tammy, of Atkins; five grandsons, Mark Bowie, Chris Bowie and wife Pam, Todd Milam, Josh Hubbard, Ben Hubbard and wife Jill; two great-grandsons Matthew and Trace Hubbard. Also surviving are five sisters, Glenda Gilbreath and Betty Bailey of Conway, Martha Vickers of Burns, Tenn. and Marie Brown of Little Rock and Alline Compton of Beebe, several nieces and nephew and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are her grandsons Mark Bowie, Chris Bowie, Todd Milam, Ben Hubbard, Josh Hubbard, and Phillip Hubbard.

FORT SMITH - Nathan M. “Buck” Shell, II, 67, of Fort Smith,died December 21, 2010 in Fort Smith. Buck began his career on the Arkansas River in 1969, as manager of the Pine Bluff Port. He moved to Fort Smith in 1970 to start the new Portof Fort Smith. He was made the Vice-president of Pine Bluff Warehouse Company in 1982, overseeing seven Ports in Arkansas. In 1996, he built Five Rivers Distribution, where he served as CEO. He was a member of the Arkansas River Basin Interstate Committee, Past President of the Arkansas-Oklahoma Port Operators Association and the Inland River Port Terminals, Past Chairman of the Arkansas-Oklahoma Rodeo Parade Commission and the Fort Smith Water Resources Commission, Past City Director of Fort Smith, and past member of the Arkansas Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department. Buck was a Veteran of the United States Army, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church.

He had a strong background in Industry and the Arkansas Waterways System, helping develop the Fort Smith and Van Buren, Ark., area.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara J. Shell of Fort Smith; one daughter, Susan Pruitt of Fort Smith; one son, Marty Shell, III of Fort Smith; three sisters Patsy Johnson and Natalie Wilson both of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Gloria Wynn of Seattle, Wash.; and five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Avery, and Nathan Shell, IV and Denver and Hudson Pruitt. He was preceded in deathby one granddaughter Lily Paige Pruitt.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 24, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith with burial in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matt Cook, John Wilson, Mitch Carlton, Wendell Carruth, Vernon College, and Bill Newton.

HAZEN - Charles Foster, 70, of Hazen, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. He was born on April 9, 1940 in Knoble, Ark., the youngest son of Chiles and Maybelle Foster.

Charles was a longtime rice farmer, retired from Prairie Farmers Association in Hazen and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Victoria Jane Foster; three sisters, Opal Thrasher of Granite City, Ill., Beatrice Jackson of Dexter, Mo., and Dessie Williams of Rockford, Ill.; six children, Tammy Bissonette, of Babbit, Minn., Doug Foster and Donnie Boothe, both of Hazen, Wynona Foster, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Phillip Boothe, of Hazen and Ginger Sarringar, of Trumann, Ark.; 14 grandchildren, April Hicks, Ashley Ingle, Dennis “Bubba” Ingle, Leanne Foster, Jimmy Dale Tripp, David Ingle, Jacob Foster, Jacob Tripp, Kaylyn Boothe, Joshua Tripp, Cecilee Boothe, Grant Boothe, MikelEstrada, and Dawson Ingle; two great-grandchildren, Justice and Will Hicks and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by brothers, J.C. Moody and Joe David Foster and sisters, Wynona Fae Foster, Josie Claudine Nixon, and Dianne Glenn.

HOT SPRINGS - Mariann Richards, 73, of Hot Springs, passedaway Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at a local hospital. Born January 25, 1937 in Little Rock, Ark., to Walter H. and Josephine Pinckney Funk, she was a member of Christ LutheranChurch of Little Rock, graduate of Little Rock High School and attended Southern Methodist University.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmie Lewis Richards and Walter Ray Richards, both of Hot Springs and Robert Scott Richards, of Little Rock; one daughter, Jessica Jodi Richards, of Hot Springs; sister and brother-inlaw, Janis and Chris Polychron, of Hot Springs; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; two nieces, Natali Spurlin and husband, Kendall and Nikki Young and husband, Chad, all of Hot Springs; three great-nieces and nephews; and dearest friends, Kay and Paul Graham, Buddy Hackett, Jerry Moon and Janis Cook.

KNOXVILLE - Dennis F. Casbon, 68, of Knoxville, native of Valparaiso, Ind., died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.

Survivors are wife, Patsy; daughter, April Drake of Indiana; two stepsons, Donald Galvan, Knoxville, Danny Galvan Jr., Hartman; two sisters, Marge Birky, Indiana, and Charlotte Gregory, Colorado; one brother, Charles Casbon of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

NORPHLET - Frank Charles Burton, 75, of Norphlet passedaway Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born March 24, 1935, in Norphlet to Henry Hursle Burton and Winnie Mae McDermott Burton.

Before retiring, Frank was a graduate of Norphlet High School and Ouachita Baptist (College) University and went on to become an independent oil producer. He was a member, a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church Norphlet. Preceding him in death were his parents.

PRESCOTT - Mr. George Thomas Doan, 54, Prescott, Ark., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Ark.

He was born in Little Rock, Ark., on April 12, 1956, to George Oscar and Sarah Irene Gilbert Doan. He was member of the First Assembly of God Church in Prescott, Ark. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, George Thomas Doan Jr.; and one daughter, Barbara Sue Doan.

His survivors include his wife, Virginia Doan, Prescott, Ark.; his mother: Sarah Gilbert Doan, Mabelvale, Ark.; four sons: Thomas W. SEARCY - Delma Faye Heggie, 64, of Searcy died December 22nd, 2010, at her residence. She was born September 3rd, 1946, in Searcy to the late Carlton (Bunk) and Lillie (Emma) Watson Heggie.

She was a social worker for the state of Oklahoma and was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ in Oklahoma City before moving to Searcy. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. Heggie and Marlon Heggie.

She is survived by two nieces, Rita Heggie of Searcy, Linda Gassaway and husband Steve, of Judsonia; one nephew, Mike Heggie and wife Meddie, of Brownsville, Texas.

SHERIDAN - Eloise Kellebrew, age 83, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born March 3, 1927, to the late Bealie Thomas Parker and Eula Mae Sikes.

Mrs. Kellebrew was amember of First Baptist Church of Sheridan where she was a part of the sunshine class. Mrs. Kellebrewwas preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Katherine Reeves and Naomi Brewster.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Willard Kellebrew; daughters, Monica (Danny) Sanford and Penney (Jon) Oliver; brother, Malcolm Parker; sisters, Francis Gregory, Grace Martin, Peggy Mason; and grandchildren, Michaela Jumper, Matthew Oliver, and Mallory Oliver; and five great-grandchildren.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Major Delmar Taylor, age 78, diedDecember 20, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born on July 15, 1932, in Putnam, Okla. to Glen and Opal Lee (Witten) Taylor.

He was a 1951 graduate of Capitol Hill HighSchool in OKC. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and worked at Tinker Air Force Base prior to his graduation from Seminary at Evangeline Booth College in 1960. Major Taylor served for 37 years as a Minister in The Salvation Army primarily working in Adult Rehab Center. He was an avid reader, published author of the book “Never Walk Alone,” and member of the Kiwanis Club and Writer’s Guild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, sister Nancy Taylor Hicks.

He is survived by his wife Major Dee (Rios) Taylor of 57 years, sons Al and wife Lesley, Tom and wife Tracy, daughter Linda Taylor Pierce and grandchildren Al Taylor Jr., Erica Woodall and Amanda Miley, also by seven great-grandchildren, sisters De-Lois Barnhouse and husband Bill, Sharon Taylor Kendrick, sister-in-law Major Fran Taylor and brother-in-law Earl Hicks.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Mac McQuiston, age 74, passed away on December 21, 2010, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and worked for Civil Service.
